Public Art Dedication & Movie in Fremont Park - Saturday May 12, 2012

Please join Councilmember Rob Fong, the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission, CADA, and the Friends of Fremont Park for the dedication of Confluence, the 8-foot sculptures recently added to Fremont Park.

A welcome addition to the neighborhood, the intricate and boldly colored vessels are located on the 16th Street side of the park under the grand redwood tree.

The ceremony will take place in front of the sculptures at 5:30 pm on Saturday, May 12, 2012. Designed to be touched by visitors rather than observed from a distance, these textural concrete sculptures represent the diverse culture and history of Sacramento and the park’s namesake, John C. Fremont. Artist Stephanie Taylor will discuss the background and historic elements of her creations, as well as the unique challenges in creating the stunning pieces.

Stick around for the 7:45pm showing of "Kung Fu Panda 2," it will be fun for the whole family!
